Dr Tristan Fletcher is a UK-based AI entrepreneur and applied machine learning practitioner. He is Founder / CEO of ChAI and an Honorary Lecturer in Machine Learning at UCL.

## Applied Machine Learning

Tristan applies machine learning to real-world problems in finance, health, supply chains and beyond. His experience includes senior quantitative and machine-learning work at Aspect Capital and UBS, medical AI research at Imperial College London, and supply-chain optimisation work involving Unilever.

He also provides AI consulting to global hedge funds and investment banks, helping translate academic advances into commercial applications.

## Entrepreneurship

His ventures and product work include ChAI, Thought Machine, Informed Actions, Invinio and Horrorsight. ChAI uses AI to forecast raw-material prices and has built insurance products designed to protect businesses against commodity-price rises.

## Academic and Executive Education

Tristan is an Honorary Lecturer in Machine Learning at UCL and a former Research Fellow in AI in medicine at Imperial College London. He supervises MSc and PhD students at UCL and Cambridge. In 2026 he co-designed and delivered a Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education workshop on AI Governance for Boards and CXOs.

## Teaching and Research

He publishes research and teaching material in machine learning, quantitative finance, healthcare AI and related fields. His machine-learning tutorials include Support Vector Machines Explained, Relevance Vector Machines Explained and The Kalman Filter Explained.

## AI Governance

He also writes about practical AI judgement: where AI works, where it fails, how output verifiability should affect trust, and how organisations can use AI without surrendering human accountability.
